Committee on Armed Services - The primary responsibility of the House Armed Services Committee is to ensure that our men and women in the military have the resources they need to defend our freedom. The Committee oversees a $663.8 billion military budget.
Jim serves as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces. He is also on the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee.
He was Chairman of 2008 Roles and Missions panel, and he is the only Tennessee Representative on the Committee.
Committee on Oversight and Government Reform - The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction to investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy implications.
Jim serves on two OGR subcommittees, Government Operations and Energy Policy, Health Care and Entitlements.
