COOPER STATEMENT ON SUPREME COURT'S AFFORDABLE CARE ACT RULING

June 28, 2012

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05) issued the following statement today in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

“Most American lawyers aren’t surprised by today’s Supreme Court decision, nor am I. It turns out that Obamacare, Romneycare and Robertscare are the same thing – and constitutional.”

Rep. Cooper voted for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010. Long considered a health care expert, he has advocated for health care reform for two decades and has taught health policy at Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management since 1995.
