Fix Congress
Congress is broken and in desperate need of reform. That’s why I spend a lot of time focusing on efforts to bring change to Washington.
In 2008, I was the first Congressman to join the “Change Congress” movement. In 2011, I was invited to deliver a speech on “Fixing Congress." Recently, I discussed making Congress work on PBS's national program "Need to Know” and MSNBC's Daily Rundown.
We are making progress with the passage of the STOCK Act to prevent insider trading. I've introduced other bills like “No Budget, No Pay” and “Stop Pay for Members” to hold Congress accountable for not doing its job.
Work will continue with groups like No Labels, a nonpartisan citizen group working to fix our broken government, and the bipartisan Fix Congress Now Caucus, recently formed to advance reform efforts in the House. Republicans and Democrats need to work together, in a civil manner, to find constructive solutions. America is the greatest nation in history, and we need to restore faith in our government.
