Director of Finance & Operations

Nashville, TN office

The office of US Congressman Jim Cooper is seeking a full-time Director of Operations & Finance in the Nashville, TN office to serve the congressman in his duties representing the three Middle Tennessee counties, including Davidson, Dickson and Cheatham.

This position reports to the Chief of Staff and the key responsibility will be to manage the offices finances and key programs, and represent the congressman in the community.

The successful candidate will have a BA or BS degree, preferably in accounting or business.  He/she will be exceptionally organized and adaptable; will be able to anticipate problems and offer solutions; communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment, and work effectively with teams.   The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; will pay great attention to detail; have strong time management skills; and will have an ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.  Responsibilities include managing the office budget; running numerous complex programs; and representing the Congressman in the community, particularly in our schools. Candidates should have a high level of curiosity; a love of Middle Tennessee; a commitment to public service; and the ability to engage with others in a collaborative manner that reflects positively on the office.

Salary is commensurate with experience and is expected to start at $55,000-$60,000. District Scheduler

Nashville, TN office

The office of US Congressman Jim Cooper is seeking a full-time Scheduler in the Nashville, TN office to serve the congressman in his duties representing three Middle Tennessee counties, including Davidson, Dickson and Cheatham.

This position reports to the Chief of Staff and the key responsibility will be to manage the schedule of Congressman Cooper. 

The successful candidate will have a BA or BS degree; will be exceptionally organized and adaptable; will be able to anticipate problems and offer solutions; communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment, and work effectively with teams.   The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; will pay great attention to detail; have strong time management skills; and will have an ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.  Responsibilities include tracking and responding to all scheduling requests in Nashville; coordinating the congressman’s and staff’s travel arrangements; and working closely with his Washington, DC scheduler.  The District Scheduler will also assist the Director of Research/ Senior Policy Advisor in work to match available federal grants with local needs. Digital Media Specialist

Nashville, TN office

The office of US Congressman Jim Cooper is seeking a full-time Digital Media Specialist in the Nashville, TN office to assist the congressman in representing the Middle Tennessee counties of Davidson, Dickson and Cheatham.

The successful candidate will answer to the Chief of Staff and have proven successful work in digital media.  Candidate must be able to produce excellent visual content, including graphics and video, for a variety of social media platforms. Candidates should be creative, motivated, proactive, and must be able to work effectively as part of the congressman’s communications team.

Candidates should have a high level of curiosity; a love of Middle Tennessee; a commitment to public service; and the ability to engage with others in a collaborative manner that reflects positively on the Office. Non-traditional hours should be anticipated.
