Cooper Congratulates Congressional App Challenge Winner Tuneer Ghosh
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jim Cooper (TN-05), announced that Tuneer Ghosh, a local high school junior, is the 2019 Congressional App Challenge winner for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
The Congressional App Challenge is a national initiative launched in 2013 to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by middle and high school students.
A student at Montgomery Bell Academy, Tuneer’s Advanced Placement Calculus course inspired him to create an app called Math Whiz, which helps people to sharpen their basic arithmetic skills. As users practice math problems on Math Whiz, the app provides in-depth analysis that measures the speed of user arithmetic skills.
“Tuneer identified a problem and used his passion for STEM to solve it. His app will help kids everywhere become stronger, more confident math students,” Rep. Cooper said.
Though this year’s app challenge has closed, middle and high school students across the district are encouraged to apply once the 2020 application period opens. To learn more about the Congressional App Challenge, please visit the official website for the initiative here.
