Cooper Statement on FBI Investigation of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy
NASHVILLE – Yesterday Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05) released the following statement after the announcement that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating Postmaster General Louis DeJoy for previous political contributions.
“I hope the FBI conducts a thorough and swift investigation.” Rep. Jim Cooper said. “DeJoy should have been removed as Postmaster General months ago.”
Last year, during a Committee on Oversight and Reform hearing on Postmaster DeJoy’s policies that slowed mail delivery ahead of the 2020 election, Cooper raised questions about potential illegal straw donations by DeJoy to Republican candidates.
