Cooper Submits Public Comment to Stop Medicaid Block Grant that is Dangerous for Tennesseans
NASHVILLE – This morning Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05) submitted his concerns in the federal comment period for TennCare III, Tennessee’s controversial Medicaid block grant, and urged the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) to renegotiate a new waiver that is in the best interest of Tennesseans.
“TennCare III, the ‘block grant,’ proposal is focused on monetary savings at the expense of vulnerable Tennesseans,” Rep. Jim Cooper said. “The proposal barely mentions the health of Tennesseans because health is such a low priority to our state government. Its mission is almost entirely budget-driven, not people-driven,” Cooper continued.
