Cooper, Veteran Service Organization Announce $2M+ Federal Grant
NASHVILLE – Today Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05), along with the Veteran Service Organization Operation Stand Down Tennessee, announced a $2.1 million federal grant under the Veteran’s Administration Grant and Per Diem (GPD) program.
The GPD program aims to prevent and end homelessness among Veterans and Operation Stand Down Tennessee was awarded one of sixty awards. They will use the grant to improve 42 beds for transitional housing, which include the only beds for female Veterans in the state of Tennessee.
“Operation Stand Down provides vital services to veterans in Middle Tennessee, especially with their efforts to end homelessness,” Rep. Jim Cooper said. “It was truly my honor to help deliver these funds to help support the men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom.”
“Operation Stand Down Tennessee has provided Veterans with Transitional Housing for 28 years. This grant is a game changer as it will help us improve the safety and quality of the experience we can provide to Veterans in our program,” says CEO Eden Murrie.
