Cooper Welcomes Defense Fellow
WASHINGTON – Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05) announced today the following addition to his staff.
Major Stephanie N. Mitchell joins Rep. Cooper’s office as the 2020 Defense Fellow following the completion of the one-year assignment of Gunnery Sergeant Michael Harmon. She will advise on military, defense, intelligence, and veterans matters. She will also assist Rep. Cooper with his role as chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee.
Major Mitchell is a space operations officer in the United States Air Force. Prior to assuming the role of Defense Fellow, Major Mitchell was the Operations Support Division Chief for the Overhead Collection Management Center located at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. She has served in various intelligence community, education and training, and Air Force Space Command assignments during her military career. Mitchell has a B.S. in Behavioral Science from the United States Air Force Academy and a Master’s of Business Administration from the American Military University. Stephanie has received several awards for her military service including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
